Islamabad:Pakistan on Thursday banned screening of Indian films in the country."No Indian movies would be screened in Pakistani cinemas," announced Special Assistant to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said.
Talking to local media outside Parliament House, Awan also said the government is formulating a policy to ban all kinds of Indian cultural content in Pakistan.

The move comes a day after Islamabad downgraded diplomatic relations with New Delhi and suspended trade  following Indian government's decisions to scrap the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate the state to two Union Territories.

"Pakistan would utilise all options to extend its support to the Kashmiris in the wake of revocation of Article 370 by India," Geo news quoted Awan as saying.

Indian films are immensely popular in Pakistan and around 70 per cent of the total revenue of theatres in that country comes from Bollywood films. (UNI)
