Merchants in Patiala’s Bansa Wale Market have lodged strong objections to the ongoing shoot of Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film, alleging disruption to their daily business and unauthorised use of their premises.
Shopkeepers said police barricades were put up before 9 a.m., preventing them from opening their stores at the usual time. Several traders also complained that temporary Urdu signboards were placed over their shop signage without prior consent. One shop owner claimed that people climbed onto his rooftop, stating it was required for the film’s shoot, which led to a confrontation.
Police officials from the Kotwali area clarified that the barricades and boards were installed to support the shoot and would be removed later. However, traders expressed anger over not being informed or consulted about activities happening on private property.
According to merchants, the market remained closed to customers until around 9:30 a.m., causing a significant dip in business. They allege that the production team did not take necessary permissions from affected shopkeepers before conducting the shoot.
The film is being shot at multiple heritage locations across Patiala, including Qila Mubarak. The title of the project has not yet been officially revealed.
