Mumbai: He elicited rave reviews for his performance in the film ‘Udta Punjab’, which also marked his debut in Bollywood.After 'Udta Punjab', singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh will be seen in a romantic role in ‘Phillauri’, a love story based in the Phillaur region of Punjab.Diljit, who has been a known face in Punjabi cinema, is quite excited about ‘Phillauri’, a film that is quite close to his heart.
‘’Phillauri' is a film close to my heart.My character in ‘Phillauri’ is something I have never done before in my acting career.My character in the film has several shades to it,’’Diljit told UNI .Diljit says that when he was offered the film, which marks the second production venture by actress Anushka Sharma, he took it up immediately for several reasons.
‘’When I was offered the project , I was happy to take it up.Phillaur (the place where the film is based) is like a home to me.My sister is based there.Also, my village is located in the same area.When I go from my village to Ludhiana, Phillaur falls in the way. Also, I loved the story of the film.
I also liked the look of my character in the movie,’’he says.On working with Anushka Sharma, he said she is an excellent producer.'As a producer, Anushka is doing a excellent job by promoting upcoming talent and backing new and different kinds of stories like 'NH 10' and 'Phillauri'.
I would also like to collaborate with her,'Diljit said.He also praise for the performance by Anushka in the film.'Anushka is also a brilliant actor.I really liked her in her debut film 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' and her recent film 'Sultan'.
In fact, 'Rab ne bana di jodi' is among my favourite films,'he said.On his future projects, he said he us playing a superhero in a Punjabi film.Produced by Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Sharma under the banner of Fox Star Studios and Clean Slate Films, 'Phillauri' is a romantic film, directed by Anshai Lal .The film features Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma in the lead roles.Phillauri is the second film produced by Anushka under her production banner Clean Slate Films.
