New Delhi:Attorney General (AG) KK Venugopal, top law officer representing the Union of India (UOI), on Sunday rejected a petition seeking sanction for initiating Criminal Contempt of Court proceedings against Bollywood actor Swara Bhaskar, for her alleged comments on the landmark Ayodhya verdict by the Supreme Court.
After rejection of nod from the AG, petitioner Usha Shetty has now moved and sought the consent of Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta for initiation of contempt of court proceedings against the Bollywood actor, for her alleged tweets.
According to the petitioner, the comments allegedly made by Swara on the landmark Ayodhya verdict by the Supreme Court, were contemptuous and thereby, an initiation of contempt of court proceedings should be made against her. (UNI)
