PM Modi congratulates Malayalam actor Mohanlal on receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated veteran actor Mohanlal on being honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic accolade.

The award will be presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony scheduled for September 23. In a message on his social media platform X, the Prime Minister lauded Mohanlal’s versatility and excellence, noting his enduring contributions to Malayalam cinema and theatre.

Mohanlal Ji epitomises excellence and versatility. With a rich body of work spanning decades, he stands as a leading light of Malayalam cinema and theatre and is deeply passionate about the culture of Kerala,” he wrote.

Modi also acknowledged the actor’s significant performances in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films, describing his artistic brilliance across multiple mediums as “truly inspiring,” and wished that Mohanlal’s achievements continue to inspire future generations.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) announced earlier today that the renowned actor will be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2023, as recommended by the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee.

Mohanlal’s illustrious career as an actor, director, and producer has made an indelible mark on Indian cinema, the Ministry said.
