Madrid: Colombian pop star Shakira and Spanish footballer Gerard Pique have called time on their relationship of 12 years.
"We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. Thank you for your understanding," CNN reported on Saturday, citing their joint statement.
They had met 12 years ago when the Spaniard featured in the music video for Shakira's 2010 FIFA World Cup song: "Waka Waka'.
Pique and Shakira remained unmarried. They have two sons - Milan and Sasha. Both had been living together on the outskirts of Barcelona in Spain for long. (UNI)
