Pratik Gandhi drops poster of Jyotirao Phule’s biopic, Patralekhaa to play her wife Savitribai

Mumbai: On the occasion of 195th birth anniversary of Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, Bollywood actor Pratik Gandhi released poster of his upcoming biopic 'Phule'.

Taking to Instagram, the 'Scam 1992' actor said: “Honoured to take Mahatma Phule's legacy to the world as an actor along with Patralekhaa in Phule. On the occasion of 195th birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule, unveiling the first look of 'Phule', the Hindi biopic."

The film also stars Patralekhaa known for movies like 'Citylights' and 'Love Games'.

Written and directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, the film has been produced by Pranay Chokshi, Raj Kishor Khaware, Saurabh Varma, Utpaal Acharya, Anuya Chauhan Kudecha and Ritesh Kudecha.

In this film, Pratik Gandhi will be playing the role of Phule and Patralekhaa will be playing role of his wife Savitribai Phule.

The film depicts the life and great social reforms of Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule, all the campaigns they both ran against untouchability and caste system, and how they formed a society for equal demand for lower class people by the name of 'Satyashodhak Samaj'.

The film is all set to hit the theatres in 2023. (UNI)
