Prayer Meet for Dharmendra to Be Held This Week; Venue Yet to Be Finalised

Legendary Hindi cinema icon Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at his Mumbai residence after a prolonged illness—just days before he was to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Following his quiet and private last rites, the Deol family is now preparing to hold a prayer meeting in his memory later this week.

A source close to the family told PTI, “A prayer meeting will be held in Dharmendra ji’s memory by the end of this week.” The source added that while the gathering will take place in Mumbai, the venue is still being finalised.

Dharmendra was cremated on Monday afternoon in a private ceremony at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu, unlike high-profile public funerals accorded to stars such as Sridevi and Yash Chopra.

Born as Dharam Singh Deol in Punjab in 1935, the veteran actor appeared in over 300 films across a remarkable six-decade career. Known for his effortless charm and unmatched versatility, he delivered iconic performances in classics such as “Sholay,” “Chupke Chupke,” “Satyakam,” “Anupama,” and “Seeta Aur Geeta.”
