Prez watches 'Manikarnika' with Kangana at Rashtrapati Bhawan

Mumbai: President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday watched the forthcoming film, 'Manikarnika-the Queen of Jhansi,' in the presence of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut and her team, during the special screening of the movie, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
The flick, based on the story of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi who was a leading light of the rebellion of 1857 against the British rule in India, was watched among others by senior BJP leader LK Advani, Minister for Commerce and Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel.
 
Speaking to UNI, the film's dialogue writer and lyrist Prasoon Joshi said, ''I was surprised that in all these years, there has been no film on Rani Laxmibai, who was an icon of our country's history. There should have been many films on Rani Laxmibai. 
 
''So when I was approached, I thought that this is something I must do, so I readily agreed to do the dialogues and lyrics of the movie. I am happy that together, we have completed an epic movie,'' he said.Mr Advani said he liked the film very much.

Kangana, who plays the lead role of Manikarnika, was present, along with the film's Director, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi.The film is produced by Zee Entertainment and Kamal Jain. Amitabh Bachchan has given the background commentary for the film.Later Kangana, looking resplendent in a white silk saree, and her team, had tea with the President, where the latter appreciated the flick.(UNI)
