Producer Ekta Kapoor, 'Kundali Bhagya' actors booked for hurting religious sentiments

Shahkot: The Shahkot police have booked a film and television producer and four members of a production team on the charge hurting religious sentiments of Valmiki community.

Investigating Officer (IO) Amandip Kaur said that the accused have been identified as film and television serials producer Ekta Kapoor, director Samir Kulkarni, Shrada Araya, Suristy and Balaji Telefilms, all residents of Navi Mumbai.

Punjab Valmiki Karanti Sena Vice President Tarlock Singh complained to the police that in episode no 1807 of serial Kundli Bhagya being telecasted on Zee TV channel, derogatory and objectionable references have been made towards Maharishi Valmiki which have hurt religious sentiments of the community.

The IO said that a case under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. (UNI)
