Mumbai: Amid devastating floods in Punjab, several Bollywood and Punjabi cinema stars have stepped forward to support relief efforts. From adopting villages to donating money, the celebrities are providing critical support, both in immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.
Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has adopted 10 of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar to support relief efforts, working with NGOs and the local administration.
Taking to Instagram, his team said they were focusing on essentials such as food, water and medical aid, while also planning rehabilitation and long-term reconstruction.
"Together, we can rebuild," the caption reads.
Actor Sonam Bajwa wrote in an instagram post that she is doing everything possible to help those affected by the flood.
“In these difficult times, my heart goes out to Punjab and everyone affected by the floods. The images and stories coming from there are truly heartbreaking, but what keeps me hopeful is the spirit of unity and resilience that Punjab has always shown. I am doing my part to help by donating to organisations actively working on ground as rescue teams,” her post read.
Ammy Virk has pledged to support 200 families affected by the floods, expressing deep concern over the harsh living conditions faced by the residents of Punjab.
The 'Qismat' actor stated in an instagram post, "Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter, it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again."
Punjabi actor-singer Himanshi Khurana has also joined the flood relief efforts, pledging to help resettle 10 affected families.
In an Instagram post, she wrote,"Today, seeing Punjab in such a condition, every Punjabi's heart is crying. We will make our Punjab like it was before, and according to my capacity, I will contribute to helping resettle 10 families in flood affected areas."
Meanwhile, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt also expressed his support, writing on X, "The devastation caused by the floods in Punjab is truly heartbreaking. Sending strength and prayers to everyone impacted. I will support in every way I can. May Babaji bless and protect all in Punjab."
Earlier, actor Sonu Sood also reaffirmed his commitment to help. In an Instagram post, he stated, "Together with all of you, we will get everyone back on their feet. Punjab is my soul. Even if it takes everything, I will not back down. We are Punjabis, and we do not give up."
Authorities have praised the involvement of celebrities, noting that their support has boosted relief initiatives and provided much-needed assistance to affected communities. The ongoing floods have affected thousands of people, causing widespread damage to homes, crops, and infrastructure across several districts in Punjab.
With the collaborative efforts of government agencies, NGOs, and public figures, flood victims are receiving timely support and resources to cope with the crisis.
