New Delhi: Railways' unique idea of 'Promotion on Wheels' aiming to fetch more revenue has evoked a good response during the promotion of Bollywood film 'Housefull-4'.
After running a special promotion train of eight coaches for the film, ten such proposals are under consideration with the Railways, officials said here on Friday.

They said Railways has earned about Rs 53 lakh from the promotion of 'Housefull-4' where film stars and media representatives travelled on this train.

The officials said Railways' is considering the proposal to run trains for promotion of films such as 'Dabangg-3', 'Saand ki Aankh, Chapaak, Lunch Box-2, Padman-2, as well as television mega shows 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' and 'Kapil Sharma Show'.

They said for the first two months after the announcement of the policy on October 7, it was discussed with the producers of Bollywood and TV who showed great enthusiasm about the idea.

After this, as soon as the policy of running trains for the promotion of arts, culture, cinema or sports was announced, producer Sajid Nadiadwala made a booking for 'Housefull-4' and this eight-coach train running from Mumbai Central to Vadodara, Ratlam reached New Delhi on Thursday afternoon via Kota.

Officials said the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been appointed as the nodal agency for running such trains. The IRCTC will contact the concerned zonal railways to discuss the operational feasibility as soon as the proposal of operating such trains is received and the same will be approved as soon as it gets the green signal.(UNI)
