Riteish Deshmukh’s historical drama Raja Shivaji has made a strong mark at the box office, earning over Rs 37 crore net domestically during its opening weekend, according to the makers.
The film, released on May 1 in both Marathi and Hindi, is directed by Riteish Deshmukh himself. He stars as the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, tracing his journey from a young warrior challenging powerful forces to the visionary who established Swarajya.
Sharing the box office figures on Instagram, the makers revealed the day-wise collections: Rs 12.40 crore nett on opening day, Rs 11.50 crore on the second day, and Rs 13.10 crore on the third. The total Rs 37 crore nett has made it the biggest opening weekend ever for a Marathi film.

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under the Mumbai Film Company banner and presented by Jio Studios, the film aims to bring Shivaji Maharaj’s iconic story to audiences across language barriers.
