Chennai: Blaming the anti-social elements for the violence in the city, Superstar Rajinikanth expressed his deep anguish over the incidents across Tamil Nadu and appealed to the pro-Jallikattu supporters to call off their peaceful agitation immediately. In a statement posted on his twitter handle, he pointed out to the peaceful hard fought struggle by the students and youths that earned them the goodwill and good name.
He appealed to them not to give any room for the anti-social elements to cash in on the good name and reputation earned by them and to malign the image of the police force that gave protection to them during their week long protests and appealed them to call off their peaceful struggle immediately. 'He said the massive protests by students, youths, women and the entire Tamils for the first in the Independent India, that won accolades from all and garnered world wide attention and appreciation, should be written in golden letters.
At a time when the victory of the peaceful and disciplined protest against the ban on jallikattu by them should be written in golden letters, he was pained to see such unpleasant incidents. "Reposing faith on the Union and state governments and legislature after they assured to evolve a permanent solution to Jallikattu issue and maintaining peace until the time frame set by them is the respectable act on your part," he said and appealed to them to call off their struggle without giving any room for the anti-socials to malign the good name and reputation earned by them.
