New Delhi: Riding on the strong buzz against it, a gripping storyline and stellar performances by Akshay Kumar and Ileana D'Cruz, Kevin D'Souza's 'Rustom' has earned RS 209 crore at the worldwide box office in its three weeks, trade sources said.The period crime thriller, which has been drawing crowds to the theatres since its release on August 12, has grossed Rs 174.3 crore from the domestic market in its three weeks.
The movie has also done well overseas, earning a gross of RS 35.50 crore at the overseas box office. The Earnings of the flick now stand at Rs 209.8 crore worldwide in three weeks.Trade sources said Rustom is currently the fourth most profitable film of 2016 after Neerja, Sultan and Airlift.
Directed by Kevin D' Souza, 'Rustom' is based on the real life story of a naval officer, who killed his wife paramour. The film also features Illeana D'Cruz in the female lead and Esha Gupta in a key role. (UNI)
