, Monday, 25 July 2016 (13:02 IST)
Jodhpur:The Rajasthan High Court today acquitted Bollywood star Salman Khan in the Jodhpur blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases, bringing major relief to the actor from the ruling of a lower court. Salman was accused of killing a blackbuck and a chinkara in separate incidents in 1998, for which he had been convicted by a lower court with a sentence of one to five years in jail. The killing of protected animal blackbuck had taken place during the shooting of film ‘’ Ham Sath Sath Hain’ in Jodhpur. The actor had appealed to the Rajasthan High Court against the verdict. The High Court had completed the hearing in the two cases in the last week of May but reserved the verdict. Salman’s lawyer told reporters here that the state had filed three appeals but the court dismissed all of them and he had been acquitted of all charges.(UNI)
