Mumbai: A man who had demanded Rs five crore from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to allegedly settle enmity with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has apologised in a new WhatsApp message, saying that the message was sent by mistake, an official said here on Tuesday.

Police who are investigating the threat message have initiated another investigation in the fresh message that was sent from the earlier WhatsApp number.

Notably, the Traffic department of Mumbai police had received a WhatsApp message on Thursday saying that "Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than that of Baba Siddique if he does not pay Rs five crore to settle his enmity with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi."

Following the threat, Mumbai police swung into action and traced the sender's location to Jharkhand.

A team was dispatched to apprehend the individual responsible, but so far no arrest has been made, official further said.

Following the threat, the actor has been provided with 'Y plus' security, which includes a significant police presence outside his home at Galaxy Apartments in suburban Bandra and also implemented advanced security measures, including AI-powered high-resolution CCTV cameras with facial recognition technology.
