Patna: Bihar nightingale folk singer Sharda Sinha's son, Anshuman, has expressed his desire to consider awarding the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award, to his late mother posthumously.
Sharda Sinha died on Tuesday night at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
Anshuman Sinha has expressed hope that his late mother will be considered posthumously for the Padma Vibhushan award.
"Maa Sharda Sinha has done a lot and has been immensely popular not only in Bihar but also outside the country. We always feel that she should have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan. My mother was not someone who would ever have any complaints in her mind. We learnt the art of being happy with whatever we have from her, but we know that the government can honour people posthumously. If my mother is posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, it will make millions of her fans very happy."
Sharda Sinha has already been recipient of two civilian awards such as the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
