New Delhi: US Ambassador to India Richard Verma today apologised to Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan over his detention at the Los Angeles airport, and said the authorities were working to ensure that such incident did not happen again.

The US envoy’s response came hours after the actor tweeted about the incident. ‘’Sorry for the trouble at LAX@iamsrk,’’ Mr Verma tweeted back, adding that they ‘’are working to ensure it does not happen again.’’ ''Your work inspires millions, including in US,'' the US envoy said. Earlier in the morning, Shah Rukh tweeted,'' I fully understand and respect security with the way world is, but to be detained at US immigration every damn time really sucks.’’
