In UK, the film earned 283, 359 British pounds (Rs 2.43 cr) in four days, while it earned Rs 9.
32 lakh from New Zealand in just two days (Friday and Saturday).'It won’t be erroneous to state that Tamil film #Mersal is collecting more than the two Hindi releases in some key international markets,'Taran Adarsh says.

The Tamil film landed itself in a controversy when it was attacked by the BJP for its anti-GST and digital India dialogues.BJP's Tamil Nadu unit president, Tamilisai Soundararajan, hit out at actor Vijay for the dialogues in Mersal against GST and digital India. However, actors such as Kamal Haasan and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi have all condemned the BJP for attacking Vijay.(UNI)
