Telangana High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of film actor Allu Arjun to Monday in the Sandhya theatre stampede case

The public prosecutor sought additional time to file a counter-affidavit, leading the court to adjourn the next hearing to Monday. The Chikkadapally police are expected to submit their counter-affidavit on that day.

Allu Arjun, who was expected to appear in person, joined the proceedings virtually after his lawyers requested a virtual appearance citing law and order concerns. The court allowed this request, and the actor briefly appeared online to address the extension of his remand.

The 14-day remand imposed on Allu Arjun by the Nampally Court ended today. He is expected to inform the court that the Telangana High Court has granted him four-week interim bail. Due to security issues, his virtual appearance was preferred over a physical one.

The incident, which occurred during the premiere show of Pushpa-2, resulted in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, leading to the tragic death of a woman named Revathi. Her son is still undergoing treatment for serious injuries. Three individuals, including the theatre owner, manager, and security manager, were arrested for negligence and have also been granted bail.

The Telangana High Court granted bail to Allu Arjun within hours of his arrest, noting that sections such as "assault with intent to murder" and "assault with a sharp weapon" were not applicable in this case. The court observed that the maximum punishment for negligence leading to death is five years, and the charges fall under bailable offenses as per the law.
