New Delhi: Actor Kangana Ranaut came out in open support of Nupur Sharma who was suspended by the BJP from the party over her Prophet Muhammad remark which triggered outrage in many Islamic countries.
The ‘Dhaakad’ actress took to Instagram and wrote, "Nupur is entitled to her opinions, I see all kinds of threats targeted at her, when Hindu Gods are insulted which they are almost every day we go to court, pls do that no need to play dons yourself, this is not Afghanistan, we have a proper functioning government which is chosen with a process called democracy... just a reminder for those who keep forgetting."
Her statement comes two days after the BJP suspended Sharma for her inflammatory remarks during a recent TV debate, following a barrage of condemnation from various quarters within and outside the country.
The BJP also terminated its Delhi media cell chief Naveen Kumar Jindal for his objectionable remark against the minority community.
Delhi Police has provided security to Sharma after she filed an FIR claiming that she was getting death threats. (UNI)
