Mumbai: After earning a record breaking Rs 50.75 cr on its opening day, the Aamir Khan Amitabh Bachchcan starrer ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ witnessed a drop in its collections on the second day at Rs 28 cr, taking its total earnings in the first two days to rs 78 cr, trade sources said.
The film, which features Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan along with a stellar cast of Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh, earned over Rs 50 crore on its opening day. However, collections took a drop on its second day on Friday with the film earning Rs 28 core across India.Trade sources said the drop in the film’s collections could be attributed to the fact that Friday was a working day .
Trade experts feel that the collections could rise on Saturday and Sunday, enabling the film to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in its opening weekend.‘Thugs of Hindostan’ , which released on Thursday on nearly 5000 cinema screens across India, has decimated all previous opening day box office records in the history of Bollywood , becoming the first film ever to breach the 50 crore net mark on day one as well as on any single day.
The film brings together two of the biggest icons of Hindi cinema Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan for the first time on big screen, making it a must watch movie for Hindi film lovers worldwide. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in key roles.(UNI)
