New Delhi: With 'Baaghi', actor Tiger Shroff established a niche for himself as a 'true blue' action hero of Bollywood with his sinewy body and his 'adrenaline pumping' action stunts providing wholesome entertainment for the audiences.
Just as it seemed that 'Baaghi ' would be a tough act to follow, Tiger surprises you with 'Baaghi 2', which sees him push the envelope , taking the 'action quotient', several notches higher compared to his last film. Watching him in 'Baaghi 2', it seems amply clear that Tiger is the New 'Rambo' of Bollywood.
The ease and finesse with he performs 'jaw dropping' action stunts is to be seen to be believed. Watching him in 'Baaghi 2' bashing his adversaries and the 'baddies' akin to what one has often seen the likes of Sylvester Stallone do in Hollywood, makes one forget the minor flows in the script and the lack of a coherent storyline.
It is Tiger who makes 'Baaghi 2' immensely watchable with his overpowering presence.
The movie begins with Neha (Disha Patani) getting beaten by two baddies who kidnap her daughter. Ronnie (Tiger Shroff), an Army officer posted in Kashmir, and former lover of Neha, is called by her from Goa to seek his help.
As Ronnie set on his journey of finding Neha's daughter Riya, he also runs into a lot of outlawed things happening in the system. As the story unfolds, the mystery behind the kidnapping is unravelled.
Despite a flimsy storyline, 'Baaghi 2' keeps the audience engaged all through its length with its 'slick' and 'out-of-the-world' action sequences.
Director Ahmed Khan constantly keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats with the thrilling action sequences.
He also manages to draw a brilliant performance from Tiger, making him carry out 'mass appealing' action that makes the audiences ignore the flaws in the script.
In terms of performances, Tiger is the mainstay of the film-the fulcrum around which the entire film revolves.
While his 'jaw dropping' action stunts are a treat to watch, 'Baaghi2' sees him make his presence felt not just as an action hero but also as an actor.
Though Disha Patani does not have a significant presence in the film, she looks stunning. Also, she displays a sparkling chemistry with Tiger.
Randeep Hooda makes his presence felt with his role of a police office. Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik Babbar have pitched in with a competent performance.
Another highlight of the film is brilliant cinematography by Santhana Krishnan and Ravichandran.
Though music of the film is not much to talk about, barring a song 'O Saathi', the background score by Julius Packam is excellent and adds to the appeal of the action sequences.
'Baaghi 2 ' is an 'action feast' with superlative acting by Tiger.
Rating : 4/5: (one for its jaw dropping action, one for Tiger's superlative act, one for brilliant cinematography and one for direction). (UNI)
