Mumbai: Riding on the buzz around it, performances by Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar and its topical theme, 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' has earned Rs 50-cr on its opening weekend, trade sources said today.
The film, which had an opening of Rs 15-cr, maintained its momentum on Saturday and Sunday, earning approximately Rs 50-cr in its opening weekend. Trade sources said that with today and tomorrow being holidays due to Krishna Janmashtami and Independence Day respectively, the film could witness huge rise in its collections in next two days.
Trade experts feel that 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' could well reach the Rs 100-cr mark at the end of its first week. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra modi's Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' features Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles.
