Mumbai: Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise turned Santa Claus for 300 members of the Mission Impossible 7 crew, getting them delivered special Christmas cakes from his favourite bakery from LA.
The 59-year-old actor, who is thought to be worth a staggering 450 million pounds, demanded that the plane was sent on a 5,500 mile round trip across the Atlantic, according to reports.
Selling for 50 dollars (38 pounds) each, the White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake from Doan's Bakery in Woodland Hills has been dubbed the 'Tom Cruise cake' by many of the stars who have been lucky enough to receive one in the post.
A source told The Sun, "Tom wanted to give the team on Mission: Impossible a treat for Christmas and decided that only cakes from his favourite bakery in LA would do.
'He organised for the shop to make 300 cakes especially and they were then flown back to the UK on his jet.
'It is extravagant, but Tom is an incredibly generous person and he wanted to do something special for everyone who has worked on the movie with him."
Before the price of the private jet is added into the mix, the Top Gun star would have splashed 11,400 pounds on the cakes alone, if the rumours are believed to be true.
Every festive season, the Oscar nominee gifts his friends, fellow Hollywood stars, journalists and executives the highly-coveted treats from the California bakery.
This particular Bundt cake was created in 1984 by bakery founder Karen Doan, 79, with chunks of white chocolate, a layer of cream cheese frosting along with toasted coconut flakes on top.
In the past, gift recipients have included Kirsten Dunst, Henry Cavill, Rosie O'Donnell, Barbara Walters, Cobie Smulders, Jimmy Fallon, James Corden, and Angela Bassett.
Mission: Impossible 7, which will see Tom reprise his role as protagonist Ethan Hunt, wrapped filming back in September after an 18-month production.
After having its release date delayed twice due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the blockbuster is set to hit the big screen on September 30 2022.
MI7 is the third film in the franchise directed by McQuarrie, who also was at the helm for the previous two: Rogue Nation (2015) and Fallout (2018).
Along with Tom, it also stars Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales and Frederick Schmidt. (UNI)
