New Delhi:US President Donald Trump has applauded the Hitesh Kewalya directed Hindi film "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan" that features gay characters.
Ahead of his India visit beginning on Monday, Trump commented "Great" retweeting a tweet of British gay rights activist from Peter Tatchell that said, "A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalization of homosexuality. Hurrah!"
"Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan," starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar, tells the story of a gay couple's attempts to win over the approval of their elders.
Homosexuality was decriminalised in India only less than a year and a half back, in September 2018. The Trump administration has been working to decriminalise homosexuality around the globe. (UNI)
