Mumbai: No one was expecting Pakistan to defeat India in CT final, similarly no one was expecting that an Eid release of Salman will crawl at the box office. Salman’s movie had received poor reviews many times in the past, but this time even audience feels dejected after watching Tubelight. Every critic was expecting a surge in the collection of movie on Eid, but the figure on Eid has surprised every trade expert. Believe it, Collection of Eid is lesser than that of Sunday.
The total weekend collection was 64 crore but on Eid Tubelight managed to earn only 19 crore making the gross collection 83 crore. Generally movies of Salman surpasses 100 crore figure within three days, but Tubelight has not done it in four days. It is not that the movie has earned less profit, it is yet to reach a safe figure which now looks unlikely. The movie has to reach a figure of 250 crore to make the distributors safe and to recollect the total cost. Now a huge loss of distributors is very much on the cards. (WD)
