UP police team in Mumbai to meet Sonakshi for inquiry into alleged cheating case

Moradabad: A police team from Uttar Pradesh is camping in Mumbai to interrogate Bollywood  actor Sonakshi Sinha in connection with an alleged cheating case filed against  her, police sources said here on Friday.
The case was filed by an event organiser who claimed that the actor had failed to turn up for a stage performance  despite accepting Rs 37 lakhs as advance.
 
The Moradabad police had registered an FIR against the actor at  Katghar Police Station under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 of IPC.In 2018, she had taken  advance money for a stage performance but didn't turn up. 
  
Though police went to her Mumbai residence on Thursday, it could not meet her as she was away.According to the FIR,  Sonakshi was to perform at a function in New Delhi on September 30, but even after accepting the advance money, she did not turn up.
  
A native of Shivpuri in Moradabad, Pramod Sharma, had on November 24 last complained about the cheating when the actor did not turn up in the event at Delhi to be organised by India Fashion and Beauty Award.
  
After the complaint the lodge, Sharma  also attempted suicide on February 13 following which the authorities lodged an FIR against Sonakshi and four others. However, the actor had challenged the FIR in the High Court and the court has stayed her arrest.
  
The complainant had claimed that of Rs 37 lakhs given to the actor and his agents, Rs 4 lakhs was sent to the account of Sonakshi, while Rs 33 lakhs were sent to one Abhishek who runs a Talent Fullon company, his wife Swati and one Ashish.(UNI)
