Veteran actress Sulochana Latkar dies at 94, PM Modi, celebs pay tribute

Mumbai: Padmashri and Maharashtra Bhushan award-winning veteran actress Sulochana Latkar passed away on Sunday.
 
She breathed her last at the age of 94 in a private hospital in Dadar. Sulochana was ill and was going under treatment with a respiratory infection for the past few months, but she died during the treatment at hospital on Sunday.
 
Sulochana Didi passed away at 6:50 pm on Sunday. She will be cremated at Dadar crematorium on Monday at 5 pm, said family sources. Due to the death of Sulochana, mourning has spread across the Marathi cinema industry.
 
As Sulochana Didi's film career, she was known as the senior actress in Hindi and Marathi cinema. Sulochana was born on 30 July 1928. She made her debut in the world of acting in 1943. Sulochana worked as a character actress in Marathi and Hindi films.
 
Bhalaji Pendharkar guided Sulochana in the field of acting. Sulochana Didi was prepared in her rehearsal. Didi had created a different place in the hearts of the audience with her beautiful looks and effortless acting.

She has played the role of Amitabh Bachchan's mother in many films. These films include films like 'Reshma Aur Shera', 'Majboor' and 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar'.
 
Along with this, she has also worked with Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra. Amitabh Bachchan has also mentioned him several times in his blog.
 
She had created an image of Sulochana Didi in the minds of the audience as a gentle, calm mother. She played the role of a housewife in movies. Sulochanadidi made her mark in more than 250 Marathi and Hindi movies. Many of her movies like Vahini Bhangya, Mith Bhakar, Dhakti Jau were hits.
 
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled on death of veteran Hindi and Marathi actress Sulochana Latkar who passed away in Mumbai hospital on Sunday.
 
Prime Minister tweeted that passing of Sulochana Ji leaves a big void in the world of Indian cinema. Her unforgettable performances have enriched our culture and have endeared her to people across generations. Her cinematic legacy will live on through her works.
