Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been under medical care at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai for the past few days. He was kept in the ICU to restrict visitors. However, his condition reportedly worsened this morning, and is now on ventilator support, prompting several family members to rush to the hospital.
According to sources, the veteran actor is currently responding to treatment, though no official statement has been released by either the family or the hospital.
On November 3, Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress Hema Malini had shared a brief update on his health when she was spotted at the airport. When paparazzi asked about his condition, she folded her hands and simply said, “He’s fine.”
Recent Eye Surgery
Earlier this year in April, Dharmendra underwent eye surgery due to blurriness in one of his eyes. The actor had a corneal transplant and cataract operation. A video of him leaving the hospital went viral at the time, where he told paparazzi with a smile, “I still have strength in me. I’m full of life.”
Work Front
Even at 89, Dharmendra continues to remain active in films. He was last seen in “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His upcoming projects include “Ikkis,” directed by Sriram Raghavan, where he stars alongside Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. The film is set to release in theatres on December 25, 2025. He also has “Apne 2” lined up for release.
