Mumbai: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's high-octane action drama "War 2" has amassed more than Rs 140 crore in the Indian market during its inaugural weekend.
Directed by Ayan Mukherjee and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the action spectacle premiered on August 14 as the sixth instalment in YRF's ambitious Spy universe.
Alongside Roshan and Jr NTR, who makes his Bollywood debut, the star-studded cast features Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
Trade tracker Sacnilk notes a spectacular opening day at Rs 52 crore, followed by a buoyant Day 2 collection of Rs 57.35 crore. On its third day "War 2" added another Rs 33.25 crore and on its fourth day the amount saw a sharp drop to Rs 3.81 crore 142 crore, pushing its weekend total to Rs 146.41 crore.
Although critics have delivered mixed verdicts, the film's commercial momentum remains undisputable. Industry observers forecast that the film is poised to breach the Rs 200 crores threshold in the coming days.
