WATCH: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt kickstart shooting for ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’

Mumbai: Film director and producer Karan Johar on Friday announced that he had commenced filming for his upcoming film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ which has Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead.

In a tweet, Karan said, “The day is finally here & I have so many feelings going on in my head but what emerges at the top is - gratitude! As we begin our kahani ka first schedule, seeking all your pyaar & aashirvaad! It’s time to roll!Movie camera #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani #RRKPK.”

The filmmaker also shared a short video showing Ranveer and Alia along with other crew members on the film’s set.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ marks Karan’s return to film direction after the 2016 romantic drama ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

The love story also stars veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film has been written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy.

The 49-year-old director had launched Alia in his 2012 production ‘Student of the Year’. He then worked with her on films like ‘2 States’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘Dear Zindagi’, ‘Raazi’ and ‘Kalank’ as a producer.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ is the first collaboration between Karan and Ranveer. Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi would be working with Karan Johar for the first time. Amitabh Bachchan had earlier worked in 2001 blockbuster ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham....’
