“ANSHU – Everest Calling” screened in 12th ADDA Short Film Festival 2016

Itanagar/Guwahati: The real life documentary film based on ace Arunachalee mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa aptly named “ANSHU –Everest Calling” was screened on the inaugural day of the two-day 12th edition of ADDA Short Film Festival was organised in Guwahati on December 10 and 11.

The documentary was nominated by the juries of the festival comprising of eminent film makers Gautam Bora and Bhaskar Jyoti Das and writer Manikuntala Bhattacharya from among the 50 entries from India and abroad, the president pf Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association Tsering Wange said here today.

The film festival was inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary of Assam V B Pyarelal and renowned folk singer Dhanada Pathak.The screening of the documentary was followed by felicitation by the festival committee led by president Hitesh Mahanta.

He stated that this hard hitting documentary film on Anshu would inspire many people within the country and abroad, especially women folk. Anshu, while thanking the organisers for the nomination and the screening of the documentary in such a prestigious forum said that more such festivals should be organized in different parts of North East so that people in far flung areas get an opportunity to watchgood and meaningful documentaries.

Directed by Manoj Kr Goswami and Parthasarathi Mahanta the 39 min documentary was critically acclaimed by the media and the documentary lovers.Filmmaker Samujjal Kashyap, national awardee who has been associated with this project from the very beginning stated that the Anshu-Everest Calling took almost two years to complete.He further stated that Anshu is a multi talented personality, a perfectionist and that not many people know that she is the lead actress of ‘Crossing Bridges’ which has received National Film award from the President of India.
