2,76,070 nCoV cases, 3.8k deaths registered in past 24 hours

New Delhi:India reported 2,76,070 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections in the country to 2,57,72,400, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
Besides, the country also saw 3,874 more fatalities due to the virus, pushing the toll to 2,87,122.
 
On a positive front, 3,69,077 people also recovered from the virus, taking the total number of such cases to 2,23,55,440.
 
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 32,23,56,187 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of these, record 20,55,010 were tested in the past one day.
 
At present, India has 31,29,878 active cases.
 
On Wednesday, India had registered 2,67,334 new Covid-19 cases and record 4,529 deaths.
Daily recoveries exceed daily new cases for 7th straight day: Health Ministry
 
India’s daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the seventh consecutive day as 3,69,077 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.
 
Cumulative recoveries have reached 2,23,55,440 today and the National Recovery Rate has grown further to touch 86.74 per cent, it added.Ten states account for 75.11 per cent of the new recoveries, the statement read.
 
In another positive development, the country recorded less than 3 lakh new cases for the fourth consecutive day. A total of 2,76,110 fresh infections were registered in the last 24 hours.
 
According to the data, ten states reported 77.17 per cent of the new cases in last 24 hours. Tamil Nadu has reported the highest daily new cases at 34,875, followed by Karnataka with 34,281 new cases.
 
India’s total Active Caseload too witnessed a decrease to settle at 31,29,878 today.A net decline of 96,841 was recorded in the last 24 hours. It now comprises 12.14 per cent of the country's total Positive Cases.
 
More than 20.55 lakh tests were conducted in the last 24 hours (the highest ever conducted in a single day in India). With this, the country broke its own record which it had set yesterday.
 
The daily positivity rate stands at 13.44 per cent.Cumulatively, 20,55,010 tests conducted in the last 24 hours in the country.(UNI)
