New Delhi: India on Saturday reported 89,129 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,23,92,260, while the death toll mounted to 1,64,110 with 714 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 44,213 to stand at 6,58,909. It is now 5.32 per cent of the total caseload.The past 24 hours saw 44,202 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,15,69,241, which is 93.36 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.32 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 24,69,59,192 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 10,46,605 were tested in the past one day.On the vaccination front, a total of 7,30,54,295 people have been vaccinated across the country till now.
More than half of the states from Maharashtra
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours total of 47,827 fresh cases of COVID-19 highest spike out across the Maharashtra state, bringing the total number of infections in the state to 29,04,076.
The state also registered 202 more deaths, taking the death toll to 55,379.Meanwhile, a total of 24,126 patients recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,57,494 across the state.
The state's recovery rate currently stands at 84.62 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.91 per cent.At present there are 3,89,832 active patients across the state undergoing treatment at different COVID-19 centres and hospitals, they added.
Eight districts of Maharashtra's Marathwada region reported 5,253 novel Coronavirus cases and 84 deaths in a single-day due to COVID-19, health authorities here told media on Saturday.The region worst affected due to the pandemic since last over one month .
Thane recorded 4,371 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours, taking the total count to 3,27,732, an official said on Saturday.With 15 deaths during the same period, the toll has touched 6,525.(UNI)
