Amid declining cases of Covid-19, two new sub variants of Omicron called BF.7 and BQ.1 have been detected in India which are raising fears of a new wave in the coming months.
As per the reports, the first case of BF.7 has been detected by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research centre.
The new Omicron sub-variant is considered to be highly infectious and has a greater transmissibility. It was first discovered in China’s Inner Mongolia region. It is said to have caused the recent surge of cases that has led to severe lockdown restrictions in the Asian country.
In view of upcoming festive season, experts recommend all to remain cautious as this could lead to a possible surge in the number of COVID cases.
