Vijayawada: The state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSTRC) has come up with an innovative concept of converting Vennela Air-conditioned buses into oxygen bed buses to treat Covid patients in remote areas.
As many as 17 Vennela Air-conditioned sleeper coach buses were converted into mobile Covid care centers by arranging 10 beds in each bus with Oxygen concentrators. The Amba Coach Factory and Green Co company had taken the responsibility of installing beds and Oxygen concentrators in the buses.
The CHC at Buttayagudem and KR Puram ITDA PHC in West Godavari district were taken as pilot projects to provide treatment to the Covid patients in the buses.
Talking to the media here on Thursday, Transport minister Perni Venkatramaiah said that the buses with Oxygen beds would be deployed to the remote villages, located in agency areas, to provide treatment for the Oxygen need Covid patients.
The Green Co company had come forward to give 3 Air conditioners and 50 Oxygen concentrators. The transport minister, along with APSRTC MD R P Takur, inspected the Oxygen bed buses in the bus station premises today. (UNI)
