COVID-19: India logs 10,423 new cases in last 24 hrs, lowest in 259 days

New Delhi: India has reported 10,423 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 259 days, as 443 new deaths were recorded in the same period, according to the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

The total tally now stands at 34,296,237 cases so far reported since January end 2020, as the toll rose to 4,58,880.

The recovery rate touched 98. 21 per cent, said the Ministry, as 15,021 patients recovered from the virus in a day taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,36,83,581.

“The Active Caseload falls below the 2-lakh mark and is presently at 1,53,776; which is lowest in 250 days. Active cases presently constitute 0.46 per cent of the country's total positive cases since March 2020.

“The daily positivity rate is 1.03per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 29 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 1.16 per cent which also remains less than 2 per cent for the last 39 days now,” the Ministry reported.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. In the last 24 hours, a total of 10,09,045 tests were conducted, taking the total tally over 61.02 crore across the country.

The total vaccine coverage exceeded 113 crore as per provisional reports till 7 a.m. Tuesday,” the Ministry said.

“More than13.76 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” it said. (UNI)
