COVID-19: India logs 12,729 new cases, 221 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: COVID positivity was detected in 12,729 people in the country during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the latest addition has pushed the country's caseload to 3,43,33,754 while the death toll rose to 4,59,873 as 221 succumbed to the virus.

On a positive note, 12,165 more people have recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,37,24, 959.

The recovery rate stands at 98.23 per cent, highest since March last year.

The cumulative active caseload now stands at 1,48,922, less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 61.30 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

Meanwhile, India has administered 107.70 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive. (UNI)
