COVID-19: India logs 2,528 new cases, 149 deaths in 24 hrs

New Delhi: India registered 2,528 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally of 4,30,04,005 cases to in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Friday.
 
As many as 149 fresh fatalities were also recorded, taking the total Covid death count in the country to 5,16,281.
 
The active cases in the country currently stand at 29,181 which now comprise 0.07 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate becomes 98.73 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, 3,997 recoveries were reported during the same period, increasing the total recoveries in the country to 4,24,58,543.
 
Regarding vaccination, the government has been continuously speeding up the drive across the country and on Friday, 78.18 crore tests for Covid-19 had been done so far.
 
In the last 24 hours, a total of 6,33,867 tests have been conducted.
 
“India has administered 180.97 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” the data said.
