COVID-19: India logs 3,095 new cases in last 24 hrs, highest in 6 months

New Delhi: India has registered 3,095 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total active case in the country to 15,208, as per the Health Ministry on Friday.
 
The country recorded the highest one-day fresh infections in the last nearly six months.
 
India's Covid-related death roll has increased to 5,30,867 with 2 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, with one each in Gujarat and Goa.
 
As many as 1,390 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,41,69,711. The Recovery Rate currently at stand 98.78 percent.
 
The Ministry said, 6,553 vaccine doses of COVID have been administered during the last 24 hours under the nationwide vaccination drive.
 
220.65 cr Total Vaccine doses (95.20 cr Second Dose and 22.86 cr Precaution Dose) have been administered so far said the Ministry.
 
Meanwhile, 92.15 cr Total Tests have been conducted so far; 1,18,694 tests conducted in the last 24 hours,as per Ministry data.
 
Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday will hold a review meeting to take stock of the situation, said official.
 
Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and senior officials will be present at the meeting.
 
The national capital recorded 295 fresh Covid cases on Thursday with a positivity rate of 12.48 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.
 
On Wednesday, the city logged 300 cases, the first time since August 31, and two deaths while the positivity rate had jumped to 13.89 per cent. (UNI)
