New Delhi:India reported 38,079 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the case tally to 3,10,64,908, while the death toll mounted to 4,13,091 with 560 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
The active cases declined by 6,397 to stand at 4,24,025. It is now 1.36 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 43,916 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,02,27,792, which is 97.31 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.33 per cent.
The daily positivity has remained less than 3 per cent for the last 26 days. It was recorded at 1.91 per cent in the past one day.
Of the fresh fatalities, maximum 167 were reported from Maharashtra followed by 130 in Kerala.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 44,20,21,954 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 19,98,715 were tested on Friday.
On the vaccination front, 39,96,95,879 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccines, with 42,12,557 being inoculated in the past 24 hours.
Over 2.74 cr Covid vaccine doses still available with states: Health Ministry
More than 2.74 crore (2,74,37,108) balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
As many as 18,16,140 more are in the pipeline, it added.
So far, the Centre has provided 41.69 crore (41,69,24,550) doses to the states. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 38,94,87,442 doses, as per data available this morning.
