COVID-19: India logs 41,506 new cases, 895 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India reported 41,506 new cases of novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 3,08,37,222, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Besides, 895 fresh fatalities were also reported, raising the total number of deaths to 4,08,040. The death rate stands at 1.32 per cent.

On a positive front, 41,526 people recovered from the virus, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,99,75,064, which makes 1.47 per cent of the total infections, while the recovery rate increased to 97.20 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 43,08,85,470 tests have been conducted so far, of which 18,43,500 were carried out in the past 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.25 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 20 consecutive days, according to the Ministry's daily COVID report.

On the vaccination front, 37,60,32,586 doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive, of which, 37,23,367 were given in the past 24 hours. (UNI)
