COVID-19: India logs 8,503 new cases, 624 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India has recorded 8,503 new Covid-19 cases and 624 deaths, during the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,46,74,744, while the death toll rose to 4,74,735 as 624 succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, 7,678 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,41, 05,066.

The recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, highest since March last year.

The active caseload now stands at 94,943 less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 65.32 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 131.18 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive. (UNI)
