COVID-19: India records 7,240 new cases, nearly 40% spike for 2nd straight day

New Delhi: A total of 7,240 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in India during the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Health Ministry, the total caseload rose to 4,31,97,522 while the death toll rose to 5,24,723 as 8 more succumbed to the disease.

On a positive note, 3,591 people recovered from the disease, taking the tally to 4,26,40,301. The recovery rate stands at 98.71 per cent.

The active caseload stands at 32,498, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 85.38 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

India has administered 194.59 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive. (UNI)
