COVID-19: India registers 6,563 new cases, 132 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India reported 6,563 new Covid-19 cases and 132 deaths during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally of deceased to 4,77,554 in the country according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 active cases have declined to 82,267, lowest in 572 days lowest since March 2020, Ministry’s data said.

The recovery rate touched 98.39 percent as 8,077 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,41,87,01.

“The daily positivity rate is 0.75 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 77 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.60 per cent which also remains less than 1 per cent for the last 36 days now,” the Ministry reported.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 66.51 crore tests across the country.

With the administration of 15,82,079 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 137.67 Cr, the Ministry said.

“More than 145.61 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.

More than 17.99 Cr balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry. (UNI)
