New Delhi: India logged 28,591 new cases and 338 deaths due to the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the union health ministry said on Sunday.
The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,32,36,921 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,42,655 according to the data.
The daily positivity rate of the infection was recorded at 1.87 per cent in the country while the active cases have remained under 3.9 lakh after declining by 6,595 cases, as per the health ministry's bulletin.
The cumulative active caseload now stands at 3,84,921. The share of active cases now stands at 1.16 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the figures showed.
Meanwhile, 34,848 more people recovered from the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,24,09,345. As per the data, the recovery rate stands at 97.51 per cent
The union ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2.17 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 79 days now.
A total of 54,18,05,829 samples were tested up to September 11, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 15,30,125 samples were tested on Saturday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 73.82 crores.
"More than 72 lakh (72,86,883) vaccine doses have been administered on Saturday making the country’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage reach a cumulative figure of 73,82,07,378 as per provisional reports," the ministry said. (UNI)
