COVID-19: India reports 30,941 new cases, 350 deaths in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India logged 30,941 fresh cases and 350 fatalities due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours as the positivity rate of the infection came down to 2.2 per cent in the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

The positivity rate was measured at 3.02 per cent on Monday after trading below the 3 per cent-mark for 34 consecutive days.

The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,27,66,880 whereas the death toll has climbed to 4,38,569 after 350 more people succumbed to the viral infection, according to the data.

The active caseload stands at 3,70,640 after reporting a slight fall of 5,684 cases in the last 24 hours, the figures showed.

The share of active cases remained at 1.13 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, 34,275 more people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours making the recovery registry climb to 3,19,59,680. As per the data, the recovery rate is now reduced to 97.53 per cent

The Union Ministry stated that the weekly positivity rate (2.51 per cent) has been under 3 per cent for 67 days now.

A total of 52,15,41,098 samples were tested up to August 30, 2021, for Covid-19. Of these, 13,94,573 samples were tested on Monday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The country's vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 64.05 crores, the ministry informed. (UNI)
