COVID-19: India reports less than 3 lakh new cases, positivity rate dips to 15.52 pc

New Delhi: India has registered 2,55,874 new Covid-19 cases, almost 16 per cent lower than Monday's tally of 3.06 lakh, the Union Health Ministry data said on Tuesday.

The active cases comprise 5.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national recovery rate stands at 93.15 per cent

A total 614 new deaths were reported, taking the total fatality count to 4,90,462.

The Ministry said the total active cases in the country stood at 22,36,842. The recovery tally rose to 3,70,71,898 as 2,67,753 people got freed from the disease.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 15.52 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was at 17.17 per cent, as per the data.

Delhi reported 5,760 fresh Covid-19 cases, almost 37 per cent lower than Monday's tally of 9,197. The positivity rate in the city stands at 11.79 per cent.

According to the bulletin, 71. 88 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

"India has administered 162.92 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive," Ministry data said.

More than 162.97 crore vaccine doses were provided to states/UTs so far. (UNI)
